Daytrip IT: 2026 Winter Olympics
The 25th Winter Olympic Games are from February 2-22, 2026 across northern Italy.
IT’s Your Vibe, the motto of the 2026 Winter Olympics, highlights the dynamic energy of the Italian spirit and shared experiences being at the heart of these games. The 2006 Turin Winter Olympics were the last time Italy lit the torch, and Cortina d’Ampezzo was the host of the 1956 Winter Games.
With Italy hosting in both Milan and Cortina, this is the first dual-city Olympics and covers the most wide-spread area (22,000 km2). According to Reuters as of December 10, close to one million tickets were sold for the Games, with a total of 1.4 million tickets being issued. Read on for our podium worthy tips to navigating these dual-city games.

Practical tips
Italy uses the Euro and it’s beneficial to have cash on hand for smaller purchases like coffee, gelato, and public bathrooms (coins needed). Public transportation will be enhanced in the region for the Games, for example, utilize Milan’s metro/tram system that will have extended hours until 2 AM. The Milan public transport system is ATM, download the official app here.
Be aware that private car access at the venues will be restricted and park-and-ride areas will be implemented. Similarly, for Alpine locations, train-and-ride stations will be designated to reach the venues. If your clients plan to ski, they need a ski pass! Cortina d’Ampezzo is within the Dolomiti Superski pass, which can be used at 12 resorts.
More than just Olympic stadiums
With spectator schedules full of adrenaline pumping figure skating, Nordic skiing, or bobsledding - a day trip is a welcome respite from the Olympic craze. If you have a gap in your spectator schedule, why not experience more of this diverse region?
Day trip from Milan
Day trip to the birthplace of winter sports - St. Moritz, Switzerland. St. Moritz hosted the second Winter Olympics in 1928 and is known for its Alpine glamour and sophistication. Whether hitting the slopes or going straight to Apres-ski activities, skip the stress of navigating mountain roads or transporting winter gear with a private car transfer.
💡Day tip: For James Bond lovers, The Spy Who Loved Me and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service movies were filmed here!

💡Day tip: Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was set in and inspired by the city of Verona (although it is extremely unlikely that the author ever travelled there himself).
