How to get from Vienna to Hallstatt
If you’re travelling from Vienna to Hallstatt, you have several travel options. For travellers on a budget, the train is the cheapest way to travel from Vienna to Hallstatt. The fastest way to travel from Vienna to Hallstatt is by car, which is of course the best way to travel from Vienna to Hallstatt since it’s the only direct option. Vienna to Hallstatt by train
To travel by train, you need to get to the Wien Hauptbahnhof, or Wien Meidling in Vienna, where you can purchase a ticket (or just buy them in advance online). The first train leaves around 10:10 AM and the last train departs at around 18:00 PM. Vienna to Hallstatt by bus
There are no buses to take you from Vienna to Hallstatt. You will need to take multiple trains to get from Vienna to Obertraun, a small town 10 minutes outside of Hallstatt and from there you can take a bus.
