How to get from Budapest to Split
You can use several options to travel from Budapest to Split. The cheapest option to travel from Budapest to Split is the bus. The fastest way to travel from Budapest to Split is by flight though do not forget about waiting times at the airport. To achieve that you need to go to the station Kelenföld (Budapest) and buy a ticket to Zagreb Glavni Kol - direct connection, train departs every day at 3:35 pm. Please note, even though you can purchase an online ticket, you will anyway need to pick up the actual paper ticket at the Ticket Collection Points located at railway station before your journey. The train from Budapest to Zagreb is operated by Mav Start, with train tickets from Budapest to Zagreb costing €20 on average for the 5.5 hour trip. The distance from Budapest to Zagreb is is about 350 kilometers. Once you reach Zagreb Glavni Kol you can buy a ticket to Split. There are 2 trains a day, the first train is at 3:20 PM, and the last train is at 10:56 PM. The train from Zagreb to Split is run by HŽ Passenger Transport, with train tickets from Zagreb to Split costing between €25-€30 for the 6.5 hour trip. The distance from Zagreb to Split is about 410 kilometers.Trains have bathrooms on board, and usually offer a dining car.
Budapest to Split by bus
To travel from Budapest to Split by bus, there are several journey options but none of them is a direct transfer. You will have to hop off the bus in Zagreb and with the same ticket hop on another bus that goes from Zagreb to Split. There are several options how to buy a ticket. The first is to go to Budapest, Könyves Kálmán körút and buy a ticket to Split, Autobusni Kolodvor with a change in Zagreb. The second is to go to Budapest - Kelenföld, Somogyi Utca Mhd Stop and buy a ticket to Split, Autobusni Kolodvor aso with a change in Zagreb. Finally you can go to Budapest, Kelenföld vasútállomás Etele tér and also buy a ticket to Split, Autobusni Kolodvor also with a change in Zagreb. While you can buy your ticket at the station, it’s best to purchase them in advance. The earliest bus is at 7:30 AM, and the last bus is at 8:30 PM, with 2 busses leaving every 3 - 3.5 hours. The bus from Budapest to Split is run by Flixbus, with bus tickets from Budapest to Split costing between €30-€42 for the 11 hour trip. The distance from Budapest to Vienna is about 750 kilometers.All options offer direct service from Budapest to Split.
Budapest to Split Flight
To travel by plane, you need to get to Budapest International airport. As usual with flights, you’ll want to buy your tickets in advance. There are no directs flights to Split from Dubrovnik, the shortest flight takes 5 hours 25 minutes. The plane tickets cost around €370 for the approximate 6 hours 30 minute flight from Budapest to Split. It’s recommended to arrive at the airport 2 hours before the flight, making this the slowest and most expensive option.
